 1- Sawcch Recycled Plastic Tiles Selected Under UPCST Student Project Grant Scheme 2019 and Also Selected for national Level at Chhatra Vishwakarma Award 2019

If you wish to do something then no one can stop you from doing that; four students of the Buddha Institute of Technology (BIT), Gorakhpur have proved this so well. Vipul Singh, Tanya Singh, Jitendra Kumar Yadav, Vishal Kumar, final year students of the civil department of BIT, under the guidance of Ankur Kumar have designed a model of Plastic Tile to replace the ceramic tiles in building materials. The total cost of this plastic tiles is about Rs. 15 to 20 per piece.

These plastic tiles overcome the problem of plastic disposal and environmental problem which will result in low cost housing, solid waste management, with the properties of high strength, durable, affordable, eco-friendly and economical product. The main aim of these project is to develop an efficient low cost building material and to provide employment to unskilled village people.

As the ceramic tile costs Rs. 25-30 per piece but the plastic tile costs about Rs. 15-20 Which will be benificiary for low income people and they can use it as roofing tile, flooring tile and in parking areas also as everyone want that their house looks beautiful and attractive.

It must be noted that in India, approximately 9.46 Million tons of plastic waste is generated annually,with evaluated increasing at a rate of 1.5 to 2% every year. And this is why we have tried to invent something low cost and economical for the villagers. Now, through this plaatic tile manufacturing, unskilled labour will also be able to get the employment.

It is important to mention that these plastic tile manufactured  by Vipul, Tanya, Jitendra, Vishal of BIT, Gorakhpur was selected for the final round of Chhatra Vishwakrma Awards 2019, held at AICTE headquarter and also got the grant of Rs.20000 from UPCST. BIT Students’ Project Selection Under ‘CST UP Engineering Students Project Grant Scheme’


The Council of Science & Technology, U.P. has initiated C.S.T. U.P. Engineering Students Project Grant Scheme for the IV Year (Final Year) B.E./B.Tech Students. Under this scheme the Council provides a financial support of Rs 20,000/- per selected project.

From among all the colleges affiliated to AKTU only 40 colleges’ projects were selected and issued grant under this scheme. Buddha Institute of Technology , GIDA Gorakhpur is the only institute from the Purvanchal,  of which Civil Engineering Final Year students’ project is selected under this pioneering scheme.

Four  Civil Engineering final year students of our institute under the guidance of Prof Alak Roy made a project titled ‘A Study of Partial Replacement of Cement and Coarse aggregate by using Silica Fume, Egg shell and e-waste and construction of porous hollow concrete panel.’ that earned this prestigious grant of Rs 20000/ (Rupees Twenty Thousand only)-.
